Why invest in space inWallonia
Wallonia is increasingly recognised as a strategic partner in European and international space programmes. The region combines industrial capabilities, specialised infrastructure and research excellence, covering both upstream and downstream activities along the space value chain.
The Walloon space sector has built strong niche positions in practically all segments: ground equipment and mission preparation, access to space and launchers, operations in orbit, Earth observation, navigation, telecommunications, space safety, exploration, applications and training.

Wallonie Espace and its members are active across ESA optional programmes such as telecommunications (ARTES), Earth observation, space transportation and logistics, technology development (GSTP), science support (PRODEX), navigation (NAVISP and LEO PNT), space safety and the Terrae Novae exploration programme, as well as the new Space for a Secure and Resilient Europe initiative for dual use technologies.
The Space4Defence roadmap and WG7 further position Wallonia on defence related space applications across seven NATO aligned segments: ISR, SSA, SATCOM, PNT, METOC, Shared Early Warning and Access to space. The associated Platforme Technologique d’Excellence Space4Defence provides test and demonstration facilities for sensors, quantum communications, RF SatCom, batteries and operations in extreme environments.
