Mestastop Solutions establishes its European subsidiary at the Gosselies Biopark

A successful outcome for the Wallonia-Tech India programme, which aims to give Indian start-ups access to Europe through Wallonia’s innovation ecosystem. After visiting in December 2023, Mestastop Solutions inaugurated its European subsidiary at the Gosselies Biopark in May 2024. The Indian company is a pioneer in the fight against cancer metastases.

Mestastop Solutions, a pioneer in anti-metastasis research, announced in early May that it has established its European subsidiary at the Gosselies Biopark in Wallonia.

Founded in India in 2018 by Arnab and Debabani Roy Chowdhury, Mestastop Solutions has positioned itself as a leader in developing innovative solutions to slow the spread of cancer through metastases, which are responsible for 90% of deaths among patients with solid tumours.

Through its three breakthrough technology platforms — in vitro, in vivo and ex vivo — Mestastop Solutions investigates the complex biology of metastasis, enabling better identification of at-risk patients and the development of promising therapies to delay disease progression.

Gosselies was chosen as the company’s European base. “Creating an attractive environment at BioPark Charleroi for companies like Mestastop is a source of great pride for us,” said Dominique Demonté, CEO of the Biopark.

The WalloniaTech-India programme demonstrates the power of international collaboration in the start-up and innovation ecosystem. We are convinced that these companies have the potential to thrive on the European market and contribute to the growth of Wallonia and Belgium

A key role played by the Wallonia Export & Investment Agency

The Wallonia Export & Investment Agency played a decisive role in establishing the European subsidiary in Wallonia. Through the WalloniaTech-India programme, Mestastop Solutions Europe received valuable support to access the resources and opportunities needed for its development.

The programme was first launched successfully in 2010 in partnership with Texas A&M University before being extended to India. India is recognised as a global leader in start-up development, with around 50,000 start-ups, including approximately 8,900 tech start-ups. The programme aims to leverage this innovation potential and support global expansion into Europe.

In practical terms, WalloniaTech-India offers selected Indian start-ups a gateway to Europe through Wallonia’s ecosystem. It helps them connect with corporate clients, partners and investors in Europe, and supports their business development on the European market.

Mestastop Solutions was one of five Indian life sciences companies invited to Wallonia from 4 to 8 December 2023 as part of the WalloniaTech-India programme.
